Win A Prize

Hello friends

WE NEED YOUR HELP

We are putting together a limited edition fanzine that will be given out to the first few hundred people who buy the new EP (set for release later this year)

Within the fanzine we are putting together a page called 'Cheerio to...'

What we are asking you to do is complete the following sentence -

'(In an ideal world) I would like to say cheerio to...'

The most inventive answers will be printed in the fanzine.

Can you think of anything you'd like to say 'Cheerio to?'

(For those of you who aren't British, 'cheerio' means 'goodbye'!)

ALSO

Are you good at drawing?

Well, even if your not we would love you to draw illustrations of things you like to see and do at country fairs...again, the most inventive doodles will be printed within our fanzine.

Email all entries to info@winterkidsmusic.com

PRIZE

Any one who's entry gets printed, will be sent a a prize :)

Look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Chris Martin

This week we have been in the studio working with producer Ken Nelson!

Ken is responsible for Coldplays first two albums, as well as 4 tracks from X and Y (including 'Fix You')

It's a massive honour for us to be working with Ken on the new album and we can't wait to hear the results!

The studio we've been using (Parr Street) is home to the very piano that Coldplays 'Trouble' was recorded on.

Here is Hannah playing the piano -

Here is Hannah looking under the piano pointing at something interesting...

...and here is what she found...

I'm not gonna lie, ebaying it did cross our minds...as did writing 'WinterKids were 'ere', however, I think we'll wait until we've gone multi platinum before ruining the piano!

Have a good weekend

James

Phil Collins

Hello everyone! Tour manager – Steve here.

So basically, we’ve decided that it would be a nice idea for me to share with you, an insight in to the current tour as an ‘outsider’. This is my second tour with WK and both (so far…) have been great.

This is me writing the blog…

…and this is me with a mouse that has a Koi fish in it…

I’m writing to you from the ‘Corbin Feng Shui Business – hotel’ in Freising, which I’ve been informed (by an unreliable source) is the only Feng Shui hotel in Germany.

We’ve just come back from a festival where the ‘Kids played in front of about 2,500 people. The atmosphere was electrifying and the weather was extremely damp.

On both tours I’ve enjoyed many things, nothing more though than killing time playing Mario Kart. You’ll find us in the van having a few games against each other all getting annoyed at the fact that Tom is stupidly good at it and will probably win no matter what, however, it truly is the game of kings.

Here are James and Tom enjoying a sneaky bit of MK in the hotel whilst I take a relaxing break with the Zen garden, how tranquil -

Last night we were in Heidleberg where the ‘Kids were pencilled in to perform a DJ set.

This is Chris and I purely and simply giving the punters a reason to dance -

I can safely say that we all managed to get too carried away with last nights festivities and so, this led to us all feeling a little worse for wear this morning. I wont add anymore than that...

Tomorrow we set off for Switzerland, the home of Swiss army knives, Swatch watches and Phil Collins. I cannot wait!

Ok that’s it from me, just have to say quickly that WK are going in to the studio next week to record with Ken Nelson which is rather exciting, hopefully that all goes well.

Stay safe everyone. Big love, Steve x

P.S - Whilst writing this blog, I've had to endure endless drivel coming out the mouths of Tom, James and Brad whilst they sit next to me playing Mario Kart...so for the next 3 minutes im going to type everything they say...

James – “Do you think the MK Dons got their name from playing excessive amounts of Mario Kart...and not from the fact that they are from Milton Keynes...?!”

Brad – “Princess just took my box…”

Tom – “Have you finished the blog yet Steve?”

James – “Me and B-boy are ruling the roost”

Brad – “Yoshi can eat it!”

Me (thinking to myself) – “This is probably a lot funnier outloud than it is on here…”

Brad – “Yoshi”

James – “Brad you’ve always got a love/hate relationship with Yoshi."

“If you could make love to any Mario Kart character who would it be?”

Brad – “Theres only 2 really…Princess and Mario”

Me - "Genius"

Moving Out

Hello, Hannah here!

I haven’t written a blog in a while so I thought I would do so…

First a little update: Recently we (WinterKids) have been very busy writing loooadds of new material. We have been in and out of the studio recording our new tracks as demos so we can have a listen back and decide what we want to put on our album. We have nearly short listed our tracks, and we will be recording our album (fingers crossed) in September. We’re dying to share with you the new tracks! It’s a slow process, but once we have recorded the album it means we can go on tour again!

In other news…Chris and I are moving to Guildford today!! Yey! This is my first flat, I’ve never lived away from home before so its quite scary :S.

One of the first additions in our new flat is something I like to call a"Nap Pack". The Nap Pack comprises of a pink floral pillow, a matching pink floral sheet and a vintage eiderdown -

…and the reason why I’ve had to make this Nap Pack? So James can stumble in during the early hours of the morning after a night out in Guildford and fall asleep on our original 60’s sofa (had to sneak that in) with these lovely floral bed covers - just so he doesn’t have to spend £30 for a taxi to get back to Peaslake!….

We'll be playing a show in Germany and Switzerland next week. If your in the area, hopefully see you there!

Video Shoot Pictures

Later this year we'll be releasing an EP called 'Another Break EP'.

Here is the artwork for the EP -

Last week we shot a video for the lead track off the 'Another Break EP'....that track is called....'Another Break'!

So below are some photos of the video shoot. The video will combine animation and real life footage. The idea is, the characters in the artwork will come to life in the form of us, causing musical havoc -

News on the new EP to follow shortly....

Knock Down All The Houses

Here is a little song we wrote called 'Knock Down All The Houses'. Below are the lyrics so you can sing along -

Knock Down All The Houses

Winter chills up on the hills that we’re supposed to live on
It’s housing chores are not the law its work that we all thrive on

Throw me the ball to damage walls and knock down all the houses
How would we cope if mother hope was not here to surround us

The cynic sneers but really fears the chances of a climate
Change in stance we’ve got no chance to read between the lines

Start again I’d go back and start again
Start again if I could

Hope you liked

Love WinterKids

Plastic Bags

Just a quick post this week with a slightly more serious tone to last weeks blog where Tom and Brad posted highly inaccurate photos of how my holiday panned out...

Something I noticed during our last visit to Germany was that plastic bags have been banned from a number of supermarkets.

I have always tried to recycle my plastic bags and I usually decline the offer of a plastic bag when spending money in shops....especially if its for something like chewing gum or hay fever tablets!

In fact, those who know me personally, will know that when I'm out and about I'll carry a ridiculous carpet bag that looks like its been stolen from the set of Mary Poppins....this is of course to place things I've bought in!

So any ways, since coming back from Germany, I have felt the need to spread the word about the impact plastic bags have on the environment.

So the first thing I did was join this facebook group -

I'm not sure if the petition would actually do much in terms of reaching the government, however, by showing all my friends the group, I'm hoping word will spread.

So, even if you don't use facebook, and even if you don't want to become a member of that facebook group, please do click on for 5 mins, have a read of the facts and figures.

Have a good weekend

James
